Lennox Island is home to a rich legacy of Mi’kmaq culture, preserved through oral tradition and archaeological evidence dating our presence here back 10,000 years. Mi’Kmaq traditional culture evolved over generations as a way of surviving extreme natural elements of the Mi’kmaq territories. Great wealth in knowledge grew with traditional knowledge helping families find food and understanding the value of medicinal plants and natural remedies. Forming cornerstones of Mi’kmaq culture, the use of these important medicines became inseparable from prayer and spirituality.
