The "Blockhouse", located just west of Charlottetown harbour, was established in 1851 and is the second oldest lighthouse on Prince Edward Island. It consists of a square, tapered, wooden tower with an overall height of 42 feet and has an attached two-storey dwelling. The ground floor of the dwelling was designed with a kitchen, parlour, and two bedrooms, and above four more bedrooms and a bathroom.
